I have been looking forward to writing this post for a while now so here goes…
I am pleased to announce that I will be presenting HACKED – Fixing WordPress sites workshop online on the 22nd and 29th of April 2021.
Grab your seat from Eventbrite
What is HACKED?
Hacked sites cost billions of dollars each year, for your agency or business they are either a nightmare or an opportunity to shine. I want to help it be the latter.
The workshop is about giving you skills and processes to manage hacked sites for your business and clients.
Many businesses rely on specialist security firms to perform clean-ups of their hacked sites, so why might you consider investing in the skills to do this internally when such companies exist?
No other company knows your sites and clients as well as you, they can’t make the decisions that you can. In most cases they have a single process which they follow and going outside of that is either costly or simply not possible.
There may be times where bringing in external services is needed or preferable but developing your process internally will allow you to:
- Quickly be able to respond
- Be cost effective
- Be able to take preventative steps and design systems to be easily restored
- Be able to provide this as a service to clients existing and potential new
Over the two sessions we will be covering:
- Identifying and analysing hacked sites
- Securing the site from further hacks
- Snapshotting sites safely
- Creating a clean-up plan
- 3 alternative methodologies for cleaning hacked sites
- Confirming and monitoring – the clean up process
- UK compliance and regulations as well as who you need to inform
Each session covers the theory along with a question and answer session and general discussions to go into the finer details.
But the workshop is not just theory and after each session you will be invited to practice, in your own time, with specially designed virtual machines that you can keep to reuse, or for a limited time, online equivalents. Each virtual machine will be equipped with the tools you need and technical challenges so you can put theory into practice.
Combined with worksheets and other materials, the workshop is jam-packed to give you all the tools and processes you need to tackle even the most complex hacked site case.
The workshop is delivered by me, Tim Nash, online and will be recorded so you will have access to those recordings once delivered. Please note that the Q/A sessions won’t be recorded.
I am super excited. I chose fixing hacked sites because it’s a contained process but with lots of disciplines; learning how to identify and clean up a hacked site provides you with a greater understanding of security in general, the cleaning up process allows you to focus on how processes rather than technology are the important part of security while communication to the client can make or break any relationship. With emotions running high, clear concise communication is vital and understanding just how to frame the language around a hack can turn a hacked site from a potential termination incident into one that brings your businesses closer.
I would like to invite you all to join me on the 22nd and 29th April 2021 details and how to sign up are available on Eventbrite.
